Glossary/AI strategist

AI strategist

An AI strategist is an agent that plans content strategy — themes, briefs, calendar entries, recommendations — rather than only executing one-off prompts when asked.

A pure AI writer reacts: the user prompts, the model produces. An AI strategist is proactive: it reviews the brand’s library, performance, and current trends and surfaces recommendations the user didn’t ask for ("your Tuesday posts on this pillar are down 30% in engagement; here’s a different angle to try"). The shift is from on-demand drafting to ongoing strategic input.

Implementations range from simple weekly-report agents to full conversational strategists that maintain memory of past decisions, recognise when the brand is drifting from its stated plan, and suggest corrective moves. The depth of memory and the breadth of tools the strategist can use are the main quality dimensions.

Why it matters

A brand with an AI strategist on the loop catches drift, gaps, and missed opportunities the human team can’t. A brand using AI only for drafts is using it as a typist when it could be a strategist.
